5 Random Things because I can't think of 10.

When you don't have anything to write about do a list.
A list that has no context or order.
Then call it your Random Thoughts post because really who's going to call you on it?
It's random it qualifies.
You want non-lame?
Un-lame?
You'd have visited The Un-Mom for that.
Here's her new button.
Press it for Un-lame posts.

1. Like the new banner? It's from a 1950s wine list. I do find the oddest things or maybe they find me? Here is something else from the same wine list.

in vino veritas = in wine truth

A girl bathing in wine. I feel pretty comfortable with this. It looks like a white so there shouldn't be too much skin staining.

2. My iTouch loses it's charge in about 2 hours. It's really pissing me off.

3. Coffee = consciousness. I'm just saying.

4. I could do this:

Then I fall flat on my butt managing along the way to suffer abrasions and contusions. Most of those abrasions and contusions in places where I didn't actually land.

5. What the......?

I'm not sure where or should I say when the USDA is living but if the top 2 home activities are "building a fire inside" and "butchering animals" I'm pretty sure I've been sent back to the 19th century. Maybe, someone should mention that they need to update their database. Don't look at me....I'm getting a kick out of looking for obscure activities. What's next, ironing a petticoat? Maybe, cooking Indian bread on an outside stove, oh wait that is one of the options.

6. The title may say 5 but I can't seem to stick with any kind of order today. I have owned a lucky bamboo for over 1 year that I haven't been able to kill. This is a first. My usual kill-time of lucky bamboo is 1 month. Does this mean my luck is changing? To the good?

Thanks for droppin' by, ya'll come back now.
Ya hear!
Now, Go! Visit!

RTT - It's lucky the place didn't burn down

You are getting very sleepy.
Your eyes are very heavy.
You hardly notice when I steal your wallet.
Click on the button.
Come on
Click on it.
Click it.
You know you want too.

Back in 1991 (I know. Don't mock) we moved into my in-laws house. They had moved into an assisted living place and someone needed to take care of their place. It was 2400 sq. ft. of interesting. And, when I say interesting I really mean 1970s avocado appliances. Orange daisy wallpaper in the main bath. Kitchen flooring that was glued down with the same substance that adhered the tiles to the space shuttle. Stars, stripes and anchors wallpaper in the guest room. Wiring that tended to light itself on fire in random places. You know, interesting.

JR and I were reminiscing about his dad's place the other day. (his dad who built the place from the ground up, I don't need no damn permits, I can drill a well or sink a gasoline tank anywhere I see fit, damn it, dad) We were looking fondly upon the weekend we went out of town when my mother called to tell us that the dining room light decided to flare out. When she went downstairs to check out the circuit breaker she found it on fire, for the third time. Good times my friends, Good times.

We are now known in the apartment complex as the people with the jungle on their patio. I figure they are just jealous of our foliage. I think we are the only ones that can go out onto their patio to retrieve seasonings for their dinner. Yes, I am smug.

The cat, who we had to bathe 2 weeks ago and who we figured was on deaths door, was feeling so good that he playing with the dog. Strange as it might seem but the 10 pound cat got the better of the 73 pound dog. So.....adorable costs $200.

I just spent $625.00 on repairs of my car. My car is now worth..........$625.00. I'm a great negotiator.

That's enough out of me. I'll be reporting from Waco tomorrow. Stay tuned for action packed Dr. Pepper news....

RTT- Wacky Shaped Vegetable, Kibble, and Crowds

It's that day of the week. The day to round up all those stray ideas, thoughts, and half-formed blog posts and write them down. No order, no cataloging, no logical systematic way in which to categorize them. Holy crap! I'm not sure I can do that. Librarians love order. They love nothing better than to catalog something. Even my cookbooks are in a logical systematic categorize schema. This won't be pretty but forge on because it may be worth it. Life holds no guarantees.

Want to see others that deal with randomness better then a librarian? Click on the purply button. Keely's got plenty more.

TVP - textured vegetable protein.
Looks like kibble.
You won't be seeing this in any of my recipes.
You're welcome.

I've been looking for a grocery store like my beloved Sprouts in Phoenix with no luck. Then I came upon this place. It looked like Sprouts, it smelled like Sprouts, it had bins like Sprouts.

But most of the store was taken up with chairs. Why? It turns out that the bookstore that was going to host a cookbook signing was too small. They moved the venue. To my new store.

Turns out Ree Drummond from the Pioneer Woman blog was going to be signing books that day. I knew she was going to be in town but I thought that she was going to be at the bookstore up north. Not so much.

I took these pictures at 10:30 am. She was scheduled to be there at 1pm. Yep, that lady with the toddler planned to entertain that tot in a grocery store for 2 1/2 hours. Joy! Needless to say we didn't stick around for the festivities.

I did find this fantastic shaped potato so all was not lost.
I also found one the looked like it was flipping the bird.
That's the one JR wanted me to buy.

These people ROCK!

Volunteers preserve 150,000 historic court documents

MACHIAS, Maine — It was a daunting task. One hundred boxes of unnamed materials and documents found in the attic, crawl spaces and closets of the Washington County Courthouse needed to be preserved.

I think I have enough Christmas postcards from the early 1900s to post one a day until the big day. Let the torture begin.

Now, go visit Keely and the rest of the bunch.

RTT - Whatever You do Don't Break the Spine

Hi Kids!
What time is it?
It's Random Tuesday Thoughts time!

randomtuesday

OMG, am I that old?
Don't answer that.

The Boy thought this was hilarious. I don't get it. Who would want to break the spine on a book? That is so wrong!

Okay, I lied. I do get it. But, I fail to see that it is funny. Okay, it's a little bit funny.

It has alternated being rainy and sunny here. I'm hoping that that is not the pattern for the rest of the winter. I've become the biggest wuss since living in Arizona for 3 winters. I like the sunshine and warm for the whole winter. Not just a day or two at a time. I know that those of you in the northern climes will not sympathize with me but tough. I spent forty + years in the Pacific Northwest. I don't do rain and 40 degrees anymore.

The verdict is in. I am a spaz.
Case in point: if there is a sharp surface on anything I will find a way to cut myself on it.
Proof:
Knifes: pleeeese.....daily.
Paper: Yeah, whatever.
Cardboard: Check.
Scissors: Yep, I'm all over that one.
Saws: What did you expect. Of course.
Foil on the wine bottle: Give me a break. Twice a week occurrence.
Foil gum wrapper: (shaking my head sadly) I even cut my finger on these. And, I regret to say more than once.

So, that clinches it; I am totally spazolicious.

Here are a couple of old house on Meeting Street in Charleston, South Carolina. They are for sale. You can't really tell from the pictures that they are in a sad state of disrepair. Peeling paint, rotting piazzas, crumbling gardens. It is pitiful.

Anyone or six of you want to go in on one?
Because I truly can't afford that.

That's it for me. And, I didn't even injure myself. Go figure. Want more randomness? There's enough to go around, honest. Head over to Keely's place. It's where all the cool kids are. And, then there's me. The one with all the bandages on her fingers.

Love,
M
