  1. Is this product real vintage or is the label made to look that way?

  2. Peach: It is real vintage. I scanned it from my copy of a June 28, 1943 Life magazine.

  3. I've used that stuff before; I learned quickly however, it doesn't really work if one has hairy legs. Cheers Michele!!

  4. I tried something like this a couple of years ago and it came off the second I started to sweat. But the vintage ad is awesome!

  5. Matt: if you shaved more often you wouldn't have that problem.

Blue: I can't even imagine what this stuff was made of to make it stick like that.

Everyone: it was so hard to not give a history lesson about WWII, silk and rationing that I just might give myself an award.

  6. I am so glad that's not something I am able to get my hands on. Liquid makeup for my legs??? A disaster waiting to happen.

  7. I thought of the WWII stockings rationing. I remember in the movie called....(I'll think of it in a minute) about a boy in England during the WWII bombing on his family.....that his teen-age sister had him draw a seam line on the back of her leg from her thigh down to the shoe and then she went out dancing with the hall with the American army men.

  9. Eww. I can't imagine wanting to wear stockings so badly that you'd paint them on.

  10. Isn't leg make-up still around, for covering up spider veins and scars? I know I've seen it in mail order catalogs. The shoes are screaming "sensible, dammit!", too clunky for the dainty slip.

  11. And here I was just wishing for a pour on stocking product that would take all the fuss and stress of running my pantyhose.. ALL THESE YEARS!

  13. My Momma used to tell me how she used to paint her legs because she couldn't afford hose.

  17. That was something interesting. So far I have heard of is a product from Japan which you can use to spray on your legs to have the same effect.

  19. Think about it as a historical document. Don't laugh. This is nothing but how it was at that time.

    Great entry
