I've been a pretty lame blogger these days and with my job responsibilities I don't see that situation ending anytime soon. I have been active on Facebook but mostly because it takes just seconds to upload a picture or status update. Blogging isn't like that or at least for me its not. I seem to take a long time to put down into words what I want to say. Except for today. Today I'm doing a Top Michelehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14995260386315141412noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1785534973535089478.post-3343286507876744242013-12-13T06:00:00.000-06:002013-12-13T06:00:00.190-06:00The Taj Mahal
The trip to India was amazing and surreal all at the same time. And, I don't think I can really express how much I learned, about myself and about India. Some day after I've had a chance to process the whole thing I'll try to put into words what I learned about myself on this trip. Until then, let's have a look at the Taj Mahal or as I say, "The Taj".
Here is the Taj from Michelehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14995260386315141412noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1785534973535089478.post-27713947141986669292013-11-18T07:00:00.000-06:002013-11-18T07:00:12.078-06:00Holiday decoratingOkay, okay, I know it is not yet Thanksgiving and holiday decorating should not be started before that day but I will be out of town (actually out of the country) during the Thanksgiving week. Add that in with the fact that this holiday decorating is for the competitive library department holiday decorating has a compressed my timeline. Which means that I had to get on it right now.

1. I just wasn't feeling an egg dish on Sunday morning but I really am not a big fan of plain waffles or pancakes.
2. I had made some pumpkin cake donuts the week before so I had some leftover pumpkin puree in the refrigerator that just HAD to be used.
3. Whatever I made needed to be pumped up in the protein department. Especially, if we were having a bread product.

It is a well known fact around these parts that I'm a bit of an old house and cemetery nut. Here are a few of the posts where I mention cemeteries, here, here, and here, oh yeah and here, and lest we forget here. Oops, I forgot here.
In fact, it is so well knows that when I was out in California last August Gretchen's first suggestion was to go to the Hollywood cemetery. We decided to go for a little drive on Sunday. The weather was fantastic, we were at loose ends and the dog needed a walk. All great reasons to get out of the house. We are still kind of in awe of the fact that we can drive less than an hour an be somewhere fun. In Houston if you drive less than an hour you are still...IN Houston.
Our plan was to do a little hiking, view/take Michelehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14995260386315141412noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1785534973535089478.post-82506128788199921032013-10-16T14:00:00.000-05:002013-10-16T14:00:44.680-05:00Wordless Wednesday - Politician ShamingMichelehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14995260386315141412noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1785534973535089478.post-82366674054776495172013-10-14T18:07:00.000-05:002013-10-14T18:07:08.731-05:00Spin Cycle - Autumn It has been quite some time since we lived in a place where autumn meant anything to us except that the temperature dropped to a civilized level.
In fact, it has been 8 years. That feels odd to say.
8 years since we have really seen the leaves change.
8 years since hot soup was on the menu.
8 years since the air was crisp in the morning, Michelehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14995260386315141412noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1785534973535089478.post-72617989966098516002013-10-02T12:04:00.001-05:002013-10-02T12:04:45.025-05:00Wordless Wednesday - Settling into the office
I've added a few plants, a very little bit of art, a pretty mug and some pine cones I picked up on campus. A picture of my boys sits right in front of me on the shelves above my monitors.
It's all good.

I'm not sure whether it is learning the new job, unpacking/setting up the house, all the visitors we've had in the last 30 days or a combination of everything. I suspect the latter. Benefit so far? Maybe I can finish it up today. I hope that explains how my days have been going. This job is really cutting into my blogging time.
I made this fabulous soup last Sunday and we gulped it down. Or I should say I gulped it down. JR took a little more time but he tends to eat slower than I do. It was that great.

I've taken a bunch of pictures and posted a few on Facebook. Facebook made it much easier to keep in contact with everyone without having to write a whole post or worrying about internet access. I just took the photos with my phone and uploaded them from my phone.

My new school is small.
My new school is quaint.
My new school smells of pine and fir trees

And, it is little! Especially considering the size of Houston. Our new little town is only about 13,000 permanent residents. That number swells to 25,000 when the students get here. Which is in a couple of weeks. Making this a perfect time for us to settle in. JR is slipping into the small town life like a duck to water.

It seems that hot and humid Houston is only really good for ferns and basil. Not so much for parsley and thyme. Just remember, hot, humid, hell and Houston all start with the letter H.
I do have to say that ferns love hot and humid. This fern started out in a small 4" pot. We had to transplant within a couple of weeks and now it looks like it needs to be done again.

I thought this painting looked like JR and I. He's the one wearing glasses.
JR, Nessa and I went to the dog show this weekend. We took Nessa because I thought she would enjoy the outing and because I like to show her off. And, show her off we did. She garnered a lot of attention.

There are many many reasons why I love my husband but here are five things that he does that make me love him even more.
1. When I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom I never have to worry that the toilet seat will be up. A mother of boys knows that this is something to value.
2. I rarely have to pump my own gas.
3. He does all the laundry...and I mean all! All Michelehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14995260386315141412noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1785534973535089478.post-83601141997090330482013-06-24T07:37:00.001-05:002013-06-24T08:27:39.981-05:00My bucket list is not lofty
I have a very short bucket list. I'm not sure why. Maybe it is because I had a lot of interesting experiences when I was younger, maybe it is because I'm lazy, maybe I've lost my taste for death defying experiences or maybe it is because I have simple wants. Maybe it is all of the above. Whatever!
There are certain things that are NOT on my bucket list and never will be. They are as Michelehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14995260386315141412noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1785534973535089478.post-11140929876801950962013-06-18T11:20:00.003-05:002013-06-18T11:20:30.509-05:00RTT- Only in TexasI don't often participate in the Random Thoughts Tuesday deal because I just don't seem to find the time. I don't really even blog as often as in the past but I've got a couple of things that I just can't leave only. So here goes...

I was invited to an Executive Round Table breakfast this morning to speak. (Though I didn't speak all that much.) This is how the voice in my head works. Notice I didn't say voices. Those voices abandon me as soon as I step onto the elliptical. And, I hate them for it.

At one point we ended up in the town of Gonzales. It is a quaint little town that we plan to go back up to because of the outstanding architecture up there.

After my mother-in-law died I inherited a whole bunch of costume jewelry and a few nice pieces. When I say inherit what I really mean is that after the other brothers took what they want we were left with a pile of crap to go through. Let's do a little Random Thoughts Tuesday since I've really got nothing but random floating around in my head.
