RTT - Spring Flowers, Women's History Month, and My Kind of Weight Loss Plan.

Our flowers are coming back.
This makes me very happy.
I need to be happy.
I'm 50. Happy doesn't come cheap.
Most often the price is a good bottle of wine.
Or 2.
Random Tuesday Thoughts make me happy.
Why?
I get to make new friends but keep the old
One is silver and the other gold.
Oh sorry, I don't know what came over me.
Click the purple button to visit others.
Why?
Because it's nice.
Because I told you too.
Don't make me send you to your room.
Okay, That's it I'm grounded.
Why did I ground me instead of you?
Duh, I want to be sent to my room.

Sweet Williams are so aaahhh sweet

Look at the happy little faces on my violets.
Purple. My new favorite color.
Someone told me that women of my age look good in purple.
Then I punched her lights out.
Okay, I didn't hit her but I did pout a little.
Okay, a lot.

March is Women's History Month. An opportunity to celebrate women and their achievements. Let's count down a few women that helped us get where we are today.
  1. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and her buddy Susan B. Anthony; though they never got to vote because of their work we can.
  2. Harriet Tubman; the Moses of her people
  3. Margaret Sanger; who opened the first birth control clinic in 1916
  4. Mary Wollstonecraft; wrote A Vindication of the Rights of Women.
  5. Sojourner Truth; black abolitionist
  6. My mom, sister, aunts, grandmothers, and nieces because they are all pretty wonderful.
And many many more.

Women who drink moderately less likely to gain weight

This may call for a toast.

Healthy-weight women who drink a light to moderate amount of alcohol — no more than two servings a day of red wine, white wine, beer or liquor — tend to gain less weight over time than non-drinkers, says a study in Monday's Archives of Internal Medicine.

It's news stories like this that make me happy.

Who are your favorite women?

Go forth and visit.

Love,

M

  1. Pass the wine over this way. I'm not 50 but I sure could use a glass. Happy RTT.

  5. Right now YOU are my favorite woman, after presenting me with that little "drinking" fact.

But I'm still jealous of your flowers. We still have snow on the ground. *sigh*

  7. That's definitely a weight loss plan I can wrap my head around - I need to get started now! ;)

I have flower envy. Those are beautiful! I can't wait until mine finally start to bloom - and it gets warm enough to get out and clean up the mess Mother Nature made of our yard this winter.

  8. Wow! I love your flowers! The only thing I could take pictures of in our yard are the frozen drainpipes. Not nearly as attractive. I heard that whole wine/weight loss thing while I was asleep. I guess it wasn't part of a dream.
    Happy Tuesday!

  13. Oh, what a fun post!
And pansies, they make me happy too. I think I better get some soon!
I'll plant them and then have some wine.
Perfection. Like you said, at our age we better grab it any way we can, huh?

  14. I agree that nothing is quite as happy-ing like a good bottle of wine.

  15. I think Sacagawea rocks. Kidnapped as a child, one of 2 wives to a fur trader, smarter than the fur trader, birthin her baby boy and 4 weeks later off with Lewis and Clark and baby on her back. Then she died too young. :(

  16. You're one of my favorite women. And you're officially ungrounded. Sprite needs the room since she's been breaking some rules lately.

  17. Your flowers are beautiful. Can I go to my room, please? Alone?
