5 Things I Have t o Give up if I Want to Lose Weight

I am working out no less than 5 days a week. Am I losing weight? Not so you'd notice. This weight loss fail has lead me to believe that I will have to change my diet. In that spirit I thought I'd write them down in the hopes that it will lead me to be more thoughtful
about my food choices.

#5 Avocados - I know that these have that good fat but really it is still fat. I love these so much that I will eat them daily preferably with #4 on my list. If I could just eat them with a little salt and lime (sounds like what I do with my tequilla except that I don't lose apparel with avocados) it would make them a little healthier.

#4 Tortilla chips - What is it about these salty crunchy bits of love that make it so I can't put them down? Are all the manufacturers in collusion to putting an addictive substance into chips to make me crave them? I spend a lot of time telling myself that used as a delivery device for more healthy treats they are okay. They are not okay. They are evil.

#3 Olives - They are a fruit damn it! Why can't I eat as many of them as I want? IT's that good fat thing again.

#2 Cheese/dairy - I put dairy in or on almost everything I cook. I love cheese and truly feel that everything is better with it. My food is better and my life is better. Or so I thought. Turns out cheese has a lot of fat. Who knew? So, it is not that cheese is bad for me it is the amount that I consume that is the problem. I think I have a problem with moderation.

And the #1 thing that I will need to give up in order to lose weight

WINE - the horror! I can't even talk about it.

Excuse me. I need to go cut up some avocados, crack open a bag of tortilla chips, cover them in cheese and olives and pour a glass of wine. Then go huddle in the corner with my bounty while my scale mocks me.

Love
M

  1. Don't cut them all out! Moderation, my dear. Make it a once-a-week treat.

  3. Yeah, Ben and I have really reduced the amount of cheese we eat. Going animal rennet free has really made that an easy process since there aren't a lot of choices out there. This is especially true with hard cheeses, which are mostly saturated fat :(

  4. Truly, you just listed my 5 favorite foods. Well, those 5 plus bacon. It's God's cruel trick that all good things are fattening. Alas.

  5. I don't like avocados, tortilla chips, or olives. Wine too for that matter. Now the cheese? Maybe that's why my scale mocks ME.

  8. Last time I had some wine, I got a hangover. What's up with that? I didn't drink for 20 years, have a few glasses and then get punished?
