This Saturday we had some crazy weather. Or I should say more crazy than normal Houston weather. It was like Crazy Houston Armageddon Saturday!
We had lightening and the accompanying thunder, wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour, 7 inches of rain in 2 hours and, here is the kicker, hail. Hail the size of grapes in my neighborhood. I heard tell there was golf ball size hail in other neighborhoods. I think it is the first time we have had hail in the four years we've lived here.
Snow?...yes.
Hail?...No
I posted this image on Facebook on Saturday evening before my dining room flooded. Did I mention that? I don't think I did. Well, my dining room floor had about an inch of water. We caught it before it got to the living room carpet. Used up about every towel we own sopping up the mess.
We had about 2+ inches of hail floating on top of 2+ inches of water on our back patio. The dog wouldn't go outside for a bathroom break until JR cleared a path. She is such a baby.
Our power went out 3 or 4 times and with it our air conditioner. Or maybe because it was flooded. Either way, I had to call maintenance this morning to have it fixed. I'm hoping they decide that the thermostat needs to be replaced or maybe a whole new air conditioner! I'd like to see something in a high efficiency model, please!
There was a river flowing on the walkway outside our front door that swept in a poor wee froggy. We were able to catch him so he could go back to join his froggy friends.
I thought this song was appropriate.
Stacy's got this music moves me blog hop thing going that I've jumped into. Check it out.
Love,
M
Oh wow, sure hope everything is going back to normal soon for you! Thanks for joining us, and I guess this sure is an appropriate song for you huh? Great job!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of hail. And rain. If we saw that much all at once, we wouldn't know what to do. Our rain comes in small batches.
ReplyDeleteGoodness!

Beloved and I were absolutely stunned when we saw that pic on Facebook. I think it's hailed all of one time since we've been in Ohio. And I may be crazy, but I miss the impressive thunderstorms we had in Texas (although I do not miss the frequent tornado warnings).
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the flooding didn't make it to your carpet; that would could have been ugly.
Wow! You did have a crazy stormy day! Love your choice of Lena Horne to accent your post. Marvelous!

I was flabbergasted at the amount of hail you got when you posted that pic on Facebook - so glad you guys are OK (aside from the dining room flooding and the froggy coming in on a joy ride). ;) Hope your air conditioner situation gets rectified, too! What a perfect song selection to go along with all that - you are so awesome joining in the fun today! :)
