It seems I'm on a cat theme-UPDATE

I can't seem to break the cat theme I've got going. It is sort of like I when drew nothing but lighthouses for months at a time.

Anyway, It seems that when you spend your life with pets you yearn for them when they are not around. That has to be saying something for me because I'm not really a cat person. I'm of the opinion that cats have a job. That job is to make sure my house doesn't have rodents. This opinion is probably directly related to the amount of sneezing, rashes and the whole throat closing up feeling I get when they decide that they just have to sit on my lap. In a well vacuumed house I'm okay but not too close.

Again anyway, This is JR's cat.
The love affair that JR and this cat are conducting right under my nose is embarrassing.

This cat also does not hunt, sheds like no tomorrow, and is not very bright. And, when I say not very bright what I really mean is that he is dumber than a post. He spends most of his day hanging around the house letting the dogs chew on him (they only do it with love). Imagine that fur coated in dog slobber. He also falls out of trees, off of TV cabinets and beds. Follows when I take the dogs for a walk then gets lost. Generally, he's just a lovable idiot. Every village needs an idiot and this one is ours.

When we got this cat 12 years ago we were told that he was a her. I really wanted a girl kitty because in my experience they make better hunters. I'm sure it has something to do with that whole lion/lioness thing. We were living on our farm at that time and I wanted kitties. We waited. And waited. And waited but no kittens. When we moved into town I said to JR: "Take your cat into the vet and have her spayed".

JR takes HER in.
About an hour later the vet calls: "Mr JR about your cat".
JR: "Yeah"
Vet: "Could we neuter HIM instead?"
JR: "Sure, that'd be cool".

Love,
M

After I said all that I just found this online:

The Student Development Health Education at UCLA presents International NO Dieting Day, a fair promoting healthy habits for individuals to stay fit and active as opposed to reinforcing stereotypes on how thin or muscular the body should appear.

International NO Dieting Day (INDD) was established in 1992 by a British activist and a group called the Diet Breakers. INDD was established to challenge the cultural attitudes and values that contribute to chronic dieting, food and weight preoccupation, disordered eating, and size discrimination. Participants wear a light blue ribbon symbolizing the day's goals and key messages.

  1. Good Lord. JR and Brad should meet and go for beers. They could talk about their creepy love affair with their cats. Remind me to send you a picture of your cat's Canadian doppelganger.

  3. I kind of feel the same way about cats. I only recently found out that when my husband and I were dating, my husband was so allergic to my roommate's cats that he was high on Benadryl every time he came over. You know, that explains a lot...

  4. I, too, have cat-related allergies. Cats make me sneeze. Cats make me cough. Cats make me swell up like a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon.

    Cats make me kick them.

  5. Can't BELIEVE ya'll are dissin' JR's kitteh like that! He can't help being unencumbered by the thought process (the cat, I mean, not the estimable JR :-).

Cat allergies suck, though. An 11+ on the misery index, for sure.

  6. With ya on the cat allergies but it doesnt stop me from preferring them over a dog.

We had a cat that looked very similiar to JR's and we called it Daisy. Then it grew things on its behind so we renamed him Davy. And ran away. :(

  8. I am also the owner of a dumb, but lovable cat.

Yay for No Diet Day! (I have already celebrated by finding the hidden stash of Easter candy.)

  9. I didn't know that dumb cats existed, I thought they were all smart and conniving.

Hilarious about not knowing the sex but poor male cats aren't very well hung so I can see how JR would make that mistake. Why I know that is beyond me.

  11. Hey, I did not get the memo on todays holiday! What gives! I ate a salad for lunch and went to a kickboxing class from hell!

I have noticed that your cat lays with its legs open. Kinda slutty.

  12. I am more amazed to read about a man loving a cat than how stupid the cat it. All the men I know hate cats. And it's the long hair that makes the cat dumb. Also the pushed in face (I am assuming it's a persian?). The long hair overheats their brain, which is smaller than a short-haired cat because their skull is squished. The inbreeding doesn't help either but I guess you can't have it both ways - choose either a smart cat or a purebred.

I know this because I once had a persian, as well as 2 moggies. The persian lived its life in a confused hairy daze while the moggies had a ball teasing/torturing the persian, the dog, and any rodents who were dumb enough to venture near our house.

(PS no offence to pure breed cat lovers. I loved my cuddly persian cat just as much as the moggies.)
