  3. K: Cholla are prickly suckers. It was fairly nice then.

DFP: Thanks. Not bad for a point & shoot. Sorry I didn't make them larger.

  4. PRICKLY!! But very interesting. And since we're expecting single digits here today, quite warm-looking!!

  5. Cholla is one of my very favorite cacti. Teddy Bear cholla makes it look like one's photos are blurry.

  6. DeeMarie: I feel for all of you up north. I wish I could send sunshine in the mail. You'd get a big ole box.

Ellie: I know. For the longest time I kept thinking that the photos were blurry.

  7. I love cactus!!! Thanks for spreading warmth thru your blog today. I need a good dose of warm thoughts to get thru this frigid weather we are having.

I keep chanting "Arizona, cactus, warmth"! Over and over. And ...yes! My kids do look at me strange! LOL

And ...I took the dare and posted about my pantry!

  8. Nice shots! I haven't been to the U.S. Southwest in about 20 years -- I miss the desert.

  9. I will not hug it here or there,
I will not hug it anywhere.

I will not hug it in the dark,
I will not hug it with a lark.

  10. CCG: They are on top of the fact that they break off into little pieces and seem to jump right on you.

    Kath: I cam, I saw, I admired.

Beth: This time of year the desert is great.

  11. Yes, one of these "jumped" on me when I first came to AZ in '99. It was a painful welcome but I've been here for 10 yrs and love it!

  15. We actually have cactus (cacti?) up here too, only they are very small and like to eat tires.

  16. I loved this. When we come to Arizona I want to visit. The Mayo Clinic has a lovely garden there. I walked it lots when Terry was at the Clinic for his thryoid problems.

Terry's brother lives in Gilbert so maybe I will get to see this in real life sometime.
