The blueberry bomb is making its way to the auction block. We chose to donate it to our local PBS station. This accomplishes a couple of things, not the least of which making me feel all giving.

| Doesn't Santana look happy to take my blue bomb away? |
1. It gets the poor thing off the street. Something I'm pretty sure our neighbors will be happy about since it has been sitting on the street for over a month. In an effort to trick the neighbors into thinking that the car wasn't an abandoned wreck (which it totally was) JR would faithfully move the car from one parking spot to another. I didn't have the heart to tell him that they weren't buying it. He's been trying so hard and it was so cute.
2. We no longer need to worry about it or pay the insurance on it. That will save us $30 dollars a month. Every penny counts now that we have a car payment for the first time in 7 years.
3. It will make me feel tons less guilty about the fact that I watch Masterpiece and Antiques Roadshow all the time but never give them any money. I'm a bad PBS viewer but not this year. In fact, I just started watching a new show on PBS called Doc Martin and I don't feel at all bad about it.
4. We will get a tax write off. If they get anything for it that is. Which will be a nice bonus. The first car we gave to charity about 10 years ago bagged $2500. I have no hope that the blueberry bucket will grab that kind of money but anything is helpful.
And last but not least and the very best part...
5. I get to symbolically flip the bird at the republicans that want to defund public television and radio because that pittance that the car will get at auction will pay for at least one more minute of programing and there's not a damn thing those conservative bastards can do about it.
So go forth little blueberry bomb and smile pretty for the auction attendees.
Love,
M
