We went down to Galveston Island on Sunday morning for a little fresh air and exercise. Let me show you what we did and saw.
This time we remembered to bring some dog toys. We spent a lot of time throwing the tennis ball until Nessa dropped it somewhere along the way and we had to pull out another ball. Good thing I came prepared.
Nessa became one with the water. The last time we went to the beach she was a bit afraid of the waves but this time she got right in. She is awesome off leash. She doesn't go very far, she concentrates only on the ball and she ignores other dogs. Of course, she does invite herself into other people's space but than I have said time and time again that she doesn't recognize personal space.
There were plenty of people crabbing this weekend. Some were also fishing. The huge tankers off in the distance might have discouraged me from eating anything that came out of the Gulf this close to the shore but that didn't deter others. These are soft shell crabs. I imagine they were breaded and fried.
We found a couple of coconuts washed up. At first, I was a little startled to see coconuts than I remembered that I wasn't on the Washington Coast. Duh!
As the day wore on and the church goers were released from their pews the beach started to fill up. This was our cue to go home.
3 hours of dog, car, people washing later we sat out on the patio to enjoy an adult beverage. Lemon drop martinis with fresh mint garnish. Thus ending a lovely Sunday in April. Yes, that is a poinsettia. We set it outside a few days after Christmas and the thing just won't die. Amazing!
Was your Easter Sunday leisurely like ours or did you spend it hunting for eggs and cooking dinner? Inquiring minds want to know.
