RTT - Road trip

It's Random Tuesday Thoughts today, well tomorrow but I'm writing it on Monday but will publish it on Tuesday but you get the picture. I've been awol of late because life and work are keeping me really busy. If you have a few random thoughts let Stacy know, she'll hook you up.

JR and I celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary over the weekend (March 19th was the real date). We decided to take a road trip to Bentonville, AR. I know! We are exciting. I plan to regale you with more in depth posts about the trip (for the Spin Cycle) but thought I'd give you a random bunch of photos. See how I'm squeezing 2 possibly 3 posts out of the same trip? Clever, no? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Anyway:

JR, Nessa and I stopped for a beer and a snack in Fayetteville, AR. This fulfilled my part of the road trip deal I made with JR a long time ago. Here's the deal, JR is willing to go to any and all museums/historical sites/big ball of string crazy places that I want to see as long as there is at least one brewpub visit. I chose to get the deal out of the way early in the trip. Cuts down on the complaining about driving and my working while he drove. I had a speech on Houston founding and railroad history to give on Monday at the Junior League.(FYI, I rocked it. If you ever want to know about the founding of the city of Houston or the beginnings of railroads in Houston let me know...because I'm your gal.)

Down town Eureka Springs. They were having a St. Patrick's Day parade. It was interesting. Crowded. We thought we'd have a hard time finding parking but the first parking lot we pulled into had a single space available and the meter still had 56 minutes on it. How cool is that? I pushed in a couple of more quarters to give us some more time. Than JR and I went to lunch. Ate very passable but not great food.

This is the reason we drove 8+ hours. The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.  I'll post much more about this later in the week but just know, it was worth every minute in the car. I think after her 4 mile art walk even Nessa would agree.

On the drive up we enjoyed the fabulous display the Texas wildflowers put on. I think they need another couple of days to be perfect. The blue bonnets were out but the Indian Paintbrush still has a few more days.

My phone did a great job of filling in for the camera that we once again forgot. This is the story of our life. We each remind the other not to forget the camera than both of us do. Do you do this?

There is the quick version of our weekend. There will be more to follow. Including a new "we can afford that", the Road trip Spin, and a wildflower show. There maybe a couple of more posts I can squeeze out of the trip but I can't think of them now.

How was your weekend? Do anything special?

Now, go visit the other people posting random thoughts.
Love,
M

  1. I like the arrangement you have about beer vs museums; my husband and I need to make a deal like that!

    1. We made this deal 10 years when I was going to university and needed to get out of the house (read away from the kids and commitments) to study. It is still in effect and working out great.

  2. We got out of the house with adults for St. Patrick's day. We had a great time.
Sounds like your trip was fun. Mildly jealous of your flowers. We won't really see them here for another month.

    1. I was a little surprised to see them. We've had a wet winter so the flowers should be great.

  3. That's up near where WallMart comes from. I've relatives there and over the border to the west.
    Is that Bluebonnet a Lupin

    1. This museum is actual financed by the WalMart people. That is why it is free. I think they needed a tax write off and a goodwill gesture.

    2. Oops. The flower is a lupine, of a sort.

  4. We spent the weekend cleaning, after I spent Friday night and half of Saturday decorating a cake. With a tractor. For a 3-year-old girl.

I nearly began sobbing over the photo of the bluebonnet. Lordy, I miss wildflower season in Texas...

  5. Sounds like you and JR do the same sort of road-tripping the hubby and I like to do. I love the 'deal' you've got going. ;) And yes, I remind the hubby about things so I won't have to forget, but the Absent Minded Professor always forgets. Even when I remind him to remind me. ;)
