What do you do to start feeling better after losing one of your furry family? I'm not sure. I just know that I can't keep crying at the drop of a hat. Taking that in mind I decided that a little retail therapy was in order and since I hate to go to the mall or fight the Houston traffic I took my business online.
I've said it before and I'll say it again; I breed geeks. Our boys are both really geeky. It's okay, they will rule the world someday. But, what do you get a geek?
My first stop on the internet was ThinkGeek. And, because I am cheap I go straight to the sale section of their site.
I liked the sentiment of this mug. This is information that a geek needs.
Caffeine Molecule Stainless Travel Mug
This plush sushi is adorable. My youngest geek loves sushi.
Plush Sushi
While this totally creeps me out I think Dr. Boy might find it amusing.
Human Blood Caffeinated Energy Potion
JR will want one of these. For those of you that might not understand the significance of this gift please run, don't walk, to your nearest bookstore and buy Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Don't Panic Towel
My Oldest Boy might like this since he would understand it.
I've got a baby shower coming up for twins, one boy & one girl. The dad is a geek. This should be perfect.
Illuminated JetBib Feeding System
I seriously need to get this for my friend. The description alone will force me to buy it.
Noobs for Noobs
The birth of your child - what a miracle! But then you bring the little creature home and you realize that you have no idea what to do with it. "Why didn't this thing come with an instruction manual?" you cry out in vain. You try moving it up, down, up, down, left, right, left, right...but where are the B and A buttons? Why is it screaming? How do you get it to stop? And what, oh all that is holy, is that horrid smell? STOP!!! Take a deep breath. You have a copy of The Baby Owner's Manual, and everything is going to be just fine.
The Baby Owner's Manual
Looks like I need to get my credit card out.

The only way to go is to distract yourself with another dog.
ReplyDeleteWe aren;t built to forget, not really.
And really Reilly, a librarian breeding geeks. Big shock !.
There was ever only two ways they would go. A bit like the preachers daughters was going to be a saint or a sinner; no happy medium. :-D
We are breeding geeks too. The more the better right?
ReplyDeleteThose finds are awesome!
The coffee cup would be more for me than my geek. Although we do have that baby manual! Very funny. John likes the shirts that say "RTFM".
ReplyDeleteI think I've bought at least 50% of my Christmas gifts for friends and family on ThinkGeek this year, including some stuff for Princess Nagger...what does that tell you? ;)
ReplyDelete2-1/2 years later I still find myself tearing up over Elvis (hello, my dog, not the King - though my dog was King of the house...) It'll get better - and yes, retail therapy helps a lot. ;) ((HUGZ!!))
We were just perusing their print catalog last night. Did you know you can buy Dexter's kill shirt there? And that bib - they now have a Star Trek themed one; the spoon is the Enterprise and the bib is a docking bay (not on sale, alas!). I got my "I'm blogging this" tshirt there, and last year we bought all of our employees mugs with the letters "RTFM." I LOVE ThinkGeek.com.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about Tripper. Ever since you told us he was sick, I've been hugging Scooter more often. He's not sure what's going on, but he certainly doesn't object.
BWAHAH love the "Illuminated Jetbib Feeding System"!! I bet new dad is gonna have more fun with that than the baby. You may be interested to know that retail therapy combined with puppy adoption therapy has a 99.99% success rate at treating pretty much anything that ails you. How's Nessa doing?
ReplyDeleteJulie and Vince, JR is already checking out the rescues for a new puppy and I've chosen the retail angle.
ReplyDeleteJulie, Nessa is okay but she goes go around the house searching for Tripper in all his usual haunts. It is sad.
Jan and Jen, I need one of the RTFM shirts right now!
I cried for weeks (not continuously) after my beautiful dog Taj had to be put to sleep because her cancer was becoming too invasive.
ReplyDeleteThe geek gifts look great. You should buy them all. I wish I'd had one of those baby bibs when ours were little ..... maybe HB would have been more inclined to take on the task of feeding.
It's okay to cry. They are with us just way too short of a time.

Hugs to you!! Sorry you have to go thru this pain.
ReplyDeleteThat is some productive retail therapy!
I love ThinkGeek! I've been looking for a Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver for Jude, but they're too dang expensive.
ReplyDeleteI love thinkgeek. And what a better way to fill the void than with a little sharing of the love.
