So this is Tuesday

Why does that title remind me of a John Lennon song,

So this is Tuesday
And what have you done
Another week over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Tuesday
I hope you have fun
Doing your Random
For the old and the young

My apologies to all John Lennon fans everywhere for that one.

I'm glad this is not my kitchen

Though maybe I wish it were...
At least I'd be cooking over fire
which is so much better than the electric range I am
force to cook over now.
Storage maybe a problem though.

After coming back from my Canada trip with yet another pair of earrings (yes, I am an earring whore. No, there isn't a 12 step program for that.) I decided that my earring storage/display solution was just not working out.

It was too small for my growing collection.
Earrings were falling off of it.
So I upgraded.

Now, I have more room to buy more earrings.
JR will be so pleased (said with a bit of snark).
Actually he doesn't really care
because he says that he doesn't really know if I have ears or not. It's not what he's interested in.
I think that is where I'll stop.
Ya'll don't really want to know what else he says after that.

Another storage solution that I'm quite liking is:

My paint brush and pencil storage.
I got those little orange pots for .20 cents a piece at Michael's a couple of years ago. The tall mugs I've had forever. The shelf sits right over one of my work tables. Yep, I'm liking the looks of this.

This makes me happy.

My butterfly mobile.
It floats around in my studio.
I keep the ceiling fan on just so it does.
You know, it's the simple things that entertain me.

I picked it up at the local
I think everyone is getting something like it for Christmas this year.

Have you got a little frou frou thing that makes you happy?

That's it for me today. Work calls. Okay, maybe not calls but they do expect that I'll show up sometime today. Go visit a few of the others that play the random game over at Stacy's place.

Love,
M

  1. I'm always on the look-out for pencil/pen storage like that. I have a sick obsession with collecting writing utensils. :) Happy Tuesday!

  2. You know those big ornament boxes from Ikea? I hung up a bunch of those in our bedroom this past Christmas and loved them so much I left a bunch up. I left the stars, everything else was a little too Xmassy looking. Anyway, I hung them with fishing line so at night or early in the morning all you can see is the ornaments just floating up there.

  3. Allstarme: There is nothing sick about a writing utensil obsession.

Capt: Must have photo of floating ornaments!

  4. Anything that does double duty as storage and aesthetically pleasing makes me swoon. :-)

  5. Hmmm...I don't really do frou-frou. Something I think pleases Beloved, because his ex was the Queen of Frilly.

Have I mentioned I'm in awe of your organizational abilities? Mostly because I do not share them. *sigh*

  6. Nothing frou frou here. We tend toward comfortable. And we are a bit cluttery. We have lots of pictures on the walls and I like the arrangement of them, but that's as close as I come to frou frou. I'm not terribly girly that way. Which is good living with so many guys.

  7. Creative ideas for storing the things you enjoy is always nice. I mean, you should have seen my rubberstamps before I bought those lovely Sterile Storage Drawers which work out beautifully. Of course, what I really need is an entire room dedicated entiely to my crafting/projects. In my next house, this is precisely what my plans will include - my special space. =D

  8. Will you judge me if I say I like those prismy glass thingys that you hang in the window.
And have you thought to put the pots in a stepped yoke you can get for plants.

  9. I also have a brutal earring collection. I'm not intelligent enough enough to display them though. That is just asking for the cats to play hockey with them. LOL

  10. SK: pretty and functional should always go hand in hand. Why don't storage people figure that out?

Jan: It's a crazy librarian thing.

Vandy: I live in a household of boys. I have to get my girl on.

Cathy: I never move into a place where I can't have my own studio. It's a must for me.

Vince: No judging here. I like those prismy glass thingys too. Great idea! I'll be on the look out for the stepped yoke.

  11. Kristine: Our cat is just too lazy.

  12. I'm an earring whore, too - I knew there was a reason I liked you so much! Well, you know, aside from you being you. ;)

I want one of those butterfly thingys - I keep the ceiling fan on to try to keep the room cool, so it'd just be an added bonus.

Love your brush and pencil organization! Mine are just in old Christmas mugs - the pots are much better! ;)

Lovin' that you're rockin' the random rebellion with me again!

  16. I have to do something with all my earrings. I have so many earrings, and they're all jumbled in a jewelry box. I never remember what I have, and end up wearing the same pair every day!
