They're Playing our Song

At our 25th anniversary party JR had the following conversation with our friend Cindy.

Cindy: JR, what's your song?

JR: Huh?

Cindy: You know, your and Michele's song. The "song". The one that defines your relationship.

JR (without missing a beat): Highway to Hell by AC/DC

Cindy: Ohhhh I can never get a straight answer out of you. I'm going to ask Michele.

Cindy storms into the party room.

Cindy: Michele, do you know what your husband just told me your "song" was?

Me: No and do you know how much I hate conversations that start with "do you know what?"

Cindy: Whatever. He said that your "song" was Highway to Hell. Tell me he wasn't lying to me.

Me: He wasn't lying. It is Highway to Hell.

After 25 years we can support each others lies without missing a beat. We are made for each other.

Love,
M

PS. I guess I should have said that JR celebrated our 25th a year and a half ago. I just thought about AC/DC when Keely mentioned it in her post yesterday and thought I'd pass along this cute story.

  3. LOL - we're like that, too. Although if she'd come to me saying, "Beloved says 'your song' is 'Highway to Hell'!" I'd have come back with something like,

"Oh, don't be silly - it's 'Flirtin' with Disaster' by Molly Hatchet."

  4. I love it. At least he didn't say "The Bitch Is Back" or something like that.

I love messing with people like that. Nicely played.

  7. What's wrong with Highway to Hell? It's getting off the highway that means you're close to Hades, right?

  8. Great story! That's the kind of answer that Hotty Hubby would give too, but we've only been married 7 years so I probably wouldn't think to back him on it.

  9. I can't believe you didn't miss a beat with your response. You are a master of deceit! :)

  10. After meeting you in person, this doesn't surprise me one little bit. :)

  12. At least you got something to rock out to! Retired Army spousal unit is a big ol' pile of sentimental mush when it comes to stuff like this. "His" tune is a Sonny and Cher thing. Cue the ear bleach!

  13. You are made for each other and I salute that - I know neither Devoted Spouse nor I would have missed a beat had we been subjected to that questioning. Although I'm not 100% sure he remembers the title or singer of "our song" - I can't think of her right now either - but we "know" and could hum it. (No, pls don't ask me to hum.) But in that situation just to be a smarta$$ DS would have said it was an Elvis Presley song and I might have said it was something from the Rolling Stones. - Diff generations. LOL

  14. Aw! Happy extremely belated anniversary!

Paul and I don't have a 'song'. Does that make us less of a couple??
