Friday Foodie

It was my last day of work today and I’m feeling pretty weird. This job was my first one straight out of library school. I have to give my boss credit for allowing me to indulge in my creative nature (almost unheard of in standard public libraries). This opportunity to be creative lead to my job in digital libraries which lead to my new job, not bad for an old lady that went back to school at 42.

Anyway, the nice people that I worked with gave me a party today. One of my gifts was a cookbook. You know I love me some cookbooks. This one is titled (sorry, I can’t help myself, you’d think I was a cataloger) “Tastes & Treasures, A Storytelling Cookbook of Historic Arizona”. Really who wouldn’t get me another cookbook? Well, the maybe the nice religious guy who got me “The Daily Word”. Yeah, that’s going to be read.

Out of the 187 pages of recipes I picked 11 to try. That’s right folks, most of the recipes I’ve already tried, made & blogged about. This tells me that all of you who want me to write a cookbook are right and I’ve going to get off my lazy fat ass to write one.

I don’t plan to post a recipe today. A combination of Pomegranate martinis and 3 glasses of wine at home pretty much mean that I’m way too screwed up to make a rational decision. So you’ll get a recipe tomorrow or the next day and the winner of my painting . I really like the idea of posting about the Red Lentil Chowder from the Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge Dinner Menu in the cookbook. After I've tried it out on the Boys first. It is a tough job to eat what could be possibly fatal food but they seem to be up to the challenge. After I swap out the chicken broth it ought to be so many kinds of yummy! I’ll keep you informed.

Love,

M

  6. It must have felt weird to leave the old place after so long but you've got exciting stuff ahead of you. I'm glad they saw you out in style! Have a drink for me, please. These days, I'm passed out on the couch halfway through my first beer. Lightweight, I am.

  7. Nice that they gave you a party and a cookbook. My cookbook collection is so big I don't know which books to find my favorite recipes in unless I put sticky notes on the fronts. Enjoy the drinks and here's to the new job. **clink**
